Ready for a new life

I've been researching Gastric Bypass over a year now, and I've decided that I'm ready to take the leap and get surgery! After years and years of trying to lose weight, I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I've always been able to lose 25-30 pounds but never more and I always gain the weight back, if not more. You name the diet, I've tried it! :o)
I've gone to classes and met with the medical center to start my journey. I've met with my surgeon and everything has gone quite smoothly so far. I am now just waiting for the approval letter from the insurance to come back. The target date for surgery is somewhere around the middle of March. I'm really, really excited for this new outlook on life. I've been preparing myself for the past year to get ready for this.
Now there may be some of you that say, "you don't need surgery, just diet and exercise". To that I say, you have never struggled with being truly overweight. When someone is obese, (I hate the word, but it is what it is), they've tried to "just" diet and exercise. However, I strongly believe that Gastric Bypass is ONLY a tool to help me become healthy. It is the road I need to take, but I still have to drive on that road...I still have to call the shots and decide whether or not I'm in it to win it. And I am!
So here I go! I'm excited to begin this journey, and I hope that some of the things I share will be of interest, that my thoughts may motivate others out there. Stay tuned!

This Katie is going to become Not-So-Weighty. :o)
